At Retail Group, we are invested in the communities in which we work. Our commitment to uplifting communities in need is central to our values as a company, as we always look for ways to give back to the people who live and work around our various stores and branches.
One such initiative is the Debonairs Pizza Doughnation. This project sees each of our 21 Debonairs Pizza outlets extending much-needed support to centres, trusts and organisations who are giving back to the community across Botswana.
Here’s how it works: Each store goes to the local council to source a list of registered beneficiaries, and adopts an organisation that provides essential services to the community surrounding the Debonairs Pizza outlet. The type of organisation varies from store to store, depending on the needs of the community. This can extend to orphanages, women’s clinics, feeding schemes, animal shelters, schools and more.
Each month, the organisation sends through a wish-list of items that it requires to service the community. The branch in question is then able to allocate resources to assist them in getting the items they need.
Each of our 21 stores is able to allocate P2000 per month, seeing a total of P42000 in funds, items and services going to community-driven organisations every month. After 7 months of donations, Retail Group reviews each beneficiary to understand the impact the Doughnation initiative is having. Another evaluation is conducted at the end of the financial year to find out whether the funds should be increased.
