Retail Group (Pty) Ltd, a subsidiary of Famous Brands Limited, is seeking a Financial Controller to join our team in Gaborone and oversee financial management, accounting controls, and reporting across our operations. What’s Your Purpose?

As the Financial Controller, you will play a critical role in directing our finance department, managing cash flow systems, overseeing monthly management accounts, and maintaining robust financial controls. Reporting to the Finance Manager and Financial Director, your analytical insights and leadership will maintain financial integrity, optimize store expenditure, and support strategic decision-making across the company.

Key Responsibilities:

• Direct and manage all finance team members, overseeing the Purchase Ledger, Sales Ledger, Credit Control, and payroll functions.
• Manage daily accounting processing and cash flow systems to maintain optimal liquidity.
• Prepare, review, and submit monthly management accounts and regular financial reports to directors and stakeholders.
• Compiling annual budgets and financial forecasts.
• Review and control store expenditure on a weekly basis, analysing variable costs with a focus on food costs.
• Prepare and submit VAT returns while ensuring all financial controls and compliance deadlines are strictly met.
• Compiling audit files, preparing audit working papers, and managing overall audit processes.
• Promptly address and resolve financial and operational queries.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Tertiary qualification in Accounting and Finance.
• Minimum of 3 years post-graduate experience in financial accounting and management.
• Proven track record of managing a finance team and compiling audit working papers.
• Experience analysing variable costs (experience in retail or food cost management is highly advantageous).
• Computer literacy across Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), Sage X3 ERP, and VIP Payroll.
• Finely tuned analytical capabilities, systematic problem-solving approach, high attention to detail, and strong written/verbal communication skills.
• High ethical standards, accountability, reliability, professionalism, and a positive, cooperative attitude.
