We seek to appoint an experienced, skilled, and self-driven individual with a proven track record for a Human Resources Officer position tenable in Gaborone, Botswana.
The Human Resources Officer is responsible for providing day-to-day Human Resources support across the Retail Group as part of the overall HR function which includes recruitment, employee benefits, performance monitoring, employee counselling, and other administration as necessary all in compliance with statutory obligations and best practice.
Duties and responsibilities include:
- Assist the Head of Human Resources with all generalist HR matters
- Administer, coordinate and support allocated restaurants end to end recruitment.
- Monitor probation periods and determine and communicate terminations or confirmations.
- Ensure the organisation complies with all labour related legislation and the Employment Act.
- Provide advice and recommendation on disciplinary actions in conjunction with the IR Manager.
- Work hand in hand with training and operations to identify talent within the organisation and ensure each store has a bench plan.
- Maintain an up-to-date store visits register and comply with the schedule and work with managers to resolve any HR matters that arise.
- Monitor performance of allocated stores via the scorecard and give recognition where due and assist managers to overcome performance obstacles.
- Maintaining of employee records (personal files, contracts, leave and disciplinary records, uniforms issued, etc.).
- Reports to the Head of Human Resources
The ideal candidate must possess the below:
- Knowledge of multiple human resources disciplines, employment and benefits laws.
- Minimum experience of three (3) years in an HR Assistant or Officer position.
- Relevant HR qualification – Diploma minimum.
- Work requires a willingness to work a flexible schedule, professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to motivate team to produce quality results within tight time frames and simultaneously manage several projects.
- Highly self-motivated and disciplined
- Highly computer literate – be able to produce reports and training material
- Valid Class B Driver’s license
